Fantastic early 1960s steel library table by All Steel Equipment. Solid steel panel sides, with contrast brushed steel feet, laminate table top for easy writing or drawing. Desk has a central clean-running drawer. A great example of 1960s American industrial design, these desk tables were built to last forever – very strong, sturdy, absolutely no wobbles. Makes a great dining table, large desk or drafting table.
Great condition, only a few surface markings, which you'd expect with a desk of this age. Table surface is in excellent condition. Known as 'library tables', these steel desks were much preferred to wood alternatives and stood up to the rigors of use in the military, police, and other industrial environments. The tables are much sought-after for their solid, well-built construction as well as their classic design and proportions.

1960s single pedestal steel tanker desk by General Fireproofing Co.
Founded in 1902 in Youngstown Ohio, General Fireproofing quickly became titans of steel furniture manufacture and design. This desk is from their 1964 'Modemaker' series, described in the original catalog as a desk for "The man who deserves the finest, the most distinguished of all desks!"
The desk has one file drawer, a box drawer, a pencil drawer and one wide, shallow drawer that runs the rest of the length of the desk. Lovely curved contrasting feet and chromed drawer handles and rim.
The desk's official color is 'Pine Frost', and it comes with a Velvoleum top. There is some inevitable marking on the desk, as expected with a desk of this age, and there are one or two chips in the edging. These desks were - and still are - much sought-after for their strong construction.
